Meet Rachel Kava

Meet Rachel Kava

As a producer focusing primarily on automotive clients, Rachel Kava brings the kind of calming energy that only a yoga-teaching, soccer-playing, New York-loving, mother of two can.

Hey, Rachel, what’s your story?

I caught the travel bug after studying abroad in Australia and Lesotho. After graduating from the University of Maryland, I headed to Heidelberg, Germany for a year. I studied German in school, but figured the only way to truly understand the language and culture was to live in the land. But I'm a New Yorker, and I eventually ended up back where life began. I’m now raising my family a mile from my childhood home.

I’m one of five children — all born within seven years of each other — so while I’m extremely organized, I also like chaos and chatter. In college, you’d find me studying at Starbucks, not the library.

I love to read. I’m a health nut. I’m a yogi. I’ve played soccer my whole life, up until three years ago when I started a family. But I’m looking forward to getting back on the field soon.

What are the titles of the last three books you’ve read?

Lilac Girls, by Martha Hall Kelly
A Man Called Ove, by Frederik Backman
Never Let Me Go, by Kazuo Ishiguro

What motivates you?

Spring must be in the air, because I'm currently motivated by nature. I do a little tree meditation each day by observing the daily changes in a tree outside my window. Whether it's a bright day of sunshine and blue skies or a dreary day of wind and rain, the tree continues to stand strong and grow. Witnessing its daily effort to bud beautiful flowers motivates me to put in effort each and every day.

How do you motivate others?

It's important to be honest with yourself and others. I try to live my life by this mantra, and I hope that I set an example for others to follow.

I strive for balance in my life and I encourage others to do the same. Again, I try to practice through example. I work hard when I'm on the clock, but I also play hard when I'm not, by disconnecting from my phone at night and on weekends.

What’s your secret superpower?

I'm a yogi. I started practicing with my mother when I was in high school. I fell in love with the connection I got between mind and body when I got onto my mat. I trained to become a teacher in 2011. Teaching yoga on the side is my passion project, and I pass on my learnings to anyone who wants to take one deep breath.
